Denis Place
Denis Place is one of the founders of SemiProbe and has more than 42 years of experience working in the semiconductor industry. He has degrees in electrical engineering and business management. Place is in a unique position, because he personally used and worked with probing systems for several years before starting his own semiconductor probing company.
In 1981, Place started his career at Mitel Semiconductor and Sprague Electric Semiconductor Division (now Allegro Microsystems) using a variety of probe systems in quality and product management roles. While there, he supported new product development, process, test, and failure analysis applications.
Place returned to Vermont in 1992 for a product management position with Karl Suss’s newly formed North American Probing Division located in Waterbury Center. During his 14-year span at SUSS, Place held roles in product management, sales & marketing before becoming general manager of the North American Division. He played an instrumental role in the growth of North American and Worldwide prober sales and product line development.
In 2006, when Place and two SUSS colleagues believed there was a better way to build probe systems, he formed SemiProbe in entrepreneurial fashion. He is presently vice president of sales & marketing at SemiProbe, where he supports new product and application development and contributes to the overall growth and success of the company.
Place lives in Colchester, VT and has been married to his wife Lynn for 42 years. They have three grown sons – Eric, Shawn, and Joshua, and four grandchildren – Kellan, Finnegan, Remy and Jaxon. He enjoys sports, camping, hiking, biking, fishing, gardening, raising honeybees and spending time with family.
