Dark Boxes

SemiProbe manufactures two (2) standard different dark box versions. One is built for the Lab Assistant and mini-PS4L series of probe systems. The other is built for the larger Probe System for Life (PS4L) family of probe systems – 200 mm and 300 mm versions.

The SemiProbe PS4L version is a roll top dark box that provides the user a clear visual path to instrumentation and controls located outside and adjacent to the system. The unique design of the roll top integrated into the enclosure insures easy user access to the probe system and test instrumentation controls while minimizing its operational footprint and conserving expensive space. The system is provided with two interconnect panels – one is populated with feedthru connectors and a rubberized boot for direct cable pass through (outside to inside). The other panel is blank so the user can add other types of connectors when desired. A switch panel used to control chuck vacuum, EMO and air flow is also supplied for external probe system control. The back of the dark box has a removable panel to allow the user to easily get access to the back of the probe system, optics, thermal chuck and more. A rear light baffle allows stage, thermal chuck and optics cables to be fed through the rear of the dark box. The dark box has bottom options and can be placed on a vibration isolation table or an existing bench or table.

The Lab Assistant and mini-PS4L version is a small footprint dark box that uses a different design. The door is opened from the front and is raised up and held in place with two (2) gas shocks with locking pull-plungers. To close the door the pull-plungers are released. The door has two (2) locks to insure a light-tight environment.

Dark boxes have several options that can be added – perimeter structures, saftety interlocks, lights, shelves and more. Customized systems are often manufactured.
